Thompson has played the tenor saxophone and guitar since his early teens. He has performed countless live shows with bands throughout California and Colorado. Thompson also dabbles in graphic design, photography and web development and has created artwork for businesses, personal vehicles, bands, and race cars. He currently resides in the small town of Manitou Springs, CO with his wife Alea and son Asher.
Thompson is a competitive trail runner and has completed the Pikes Peak Ascent twice (#1 most difficult rated half marathon in the United States with nearly 8,000 feet of elevation gain, finishing at the summit of Pikes Peak at 14,100 feet elevation). In 2021 Thompson finished 9th place in his age group and 60th overall out of 1,400 competitors. In 2021 Thompson finished 3rd place in his age group in the Garden to Peak running series (Southern Colorado's premier running series). Thompson trains regularly and runs well over 1,000 miles per year with over 250,000 feet of total elevation gain.
